Only one solution left for our leaky roof

Oct. 18, 2011
Last week, it was raining on about half the table space in the Friendship Trays kitchen. The week before, there were five buckets collecting drips, some on the floor, one on a table. There's been a bucket in the Intake Office for a month, collecting water brought to it by tubes made from garbage bags. This was not the kind of intake the office was built for.
The roof over Friendship Trays' head is past its useful life. Repairs are being made to earlier repairs. So in a few weeks work will begin on replacing the roof on half of the 2401 Distribution Street building. The work will cost around $100,000; money from Friendship Trays reserves will pay the contractor. Perhaps the reserve fund should be called our rainy day fund.
To rebuild Friendship Trays' financial reserves, we would be delighted to receive donations. One has already arrived.
Just as we hope it keeps raining, we hope donors continue to support this meals-on-wheels program with their generous gifts.
