● Meals on wheels in Charlotte-Mecklenburg ●
July 26, 2011
Some
people stay out in the sun too long these days. Not our volunteer drivers.
They're away from one stop and quickly into their vehicles, checking their
route sheets, then heading off to visit with another of their neighbors.
They take with them great meals and the hopes and good wishes
of an entire community: for speedy recovery from ill health, for strength to
endure disabilities, for comfort, peace –
and a cool place out of the sun.
You could be such a community ambassador. Try driving a
route for Friendship Trays. You provide the gas. We provide the meals and
beverages, the route directions, the help by phone if you get lost on the
route, and the big THANK YOU! on behalf of the hundreds of your neighbors
who depend on Friendship Trays volunteers to bring them nutritious food that
they can no longer prepare for themselves.
Interested? Give Volunteer Coordinator Lani Lawrence a
call at 704-333-9229 or
e-mail her about getting started on a schedule that suits your schedule.
