Camp Garden to Friendship Table is coming up July 18

May 30, 2011

Camp Garden to Friendship Table is a four-day camp designed for children age 6-13 years to experience gardening and culinary skills. The campers will have the opportunity to interact with some local chefs, farmers, garden experts as they learn planting skills, composting, kitchen safety, culinary arts, and food presentation.

Each day the campers will meet at Friendship Garden and experience garden activities to include composting, planting and harvesting, bee keeping and help with the Friendship Garden chickens. They will eat healthy snacks, personalize their chef hats and aprons, and all campers will be able to be creative with art projects in the garden and in the cool Friendship Tray kitchen and lobby.

In the kitchen the campers will have the opportunity to make an item using the fresh Friendship Garden eggs, bake bread and cupcakes using items just picked items from the garden, learn to make fresh pretzels and dipping sauces using fresh honey from the Friendship Bees and other local hives, and make homemade pizzas topped with items from the garden.

The last day the campers will also host a garden party and serve their parents and guests some of the items harvested and prepared during camp.

Camp will be Monday, July 18 through Thursday, July 21, from 1-4 p.m. Attendance will be limited. Fee is $100.
