A work team from Knauff Insurance joined with other volunteers, Community Culinary School students and staff to package meals in the Friendship Trays kitchen Wednesday. Trays of salad and bread went out the door within hours to more than 700 homebound and ailing people across Mecklenburg. The trays of chilled meat and vegetables were sealed and refrigerated for distribution Thursday morning. The mission depends on volunteers like those from Knauff to package meals and deliver them on more than 90 routes each weekday.
