Excerpts from a Grateful Growers Farm note to their supporters:

"THANKS!

"We are so glad you came to our farm Saturday to enjoy an absolutely gorgeous evening full of terrific folks and amazing food. There were 140 guests here, over 25 volunteers, and food from 8 local farms that combined to make an amazing event. The chicken, pork, duck, mushrooms and sweet potatoes all came from Grateful Growers Farm (yep, that's us!). The remaining produce all came from within 50 miles of our farm:
Wade Farm (beets, cabbage), Mulberry Farm (onions), Lloyd Lewis farm (field peas), Bost Grist mill (cornmeal), Freedom Farm (eggs), Davis + Son (fruit), Delwood Acres (blueberries).

"Even the moonshine, brandy, and beer were all from North Carolina!

"Together, we generously donated $1,475 to Friendship Trays! Your kindness will go a long way in serving your neighbors, so thank you for that.

"Thanks to our recycling + other "greening" efforts, a mere 52 pounds of trash went to the landfill (only 16% of what we generated). The rest of the waste we generated here was composted, recycled, or reused."
