When Firestone opened a new retail store at Steele Creek Road and South Tryon Street Friday, manager Tom Simon handed Lani Lawrence, right, a $500 donation to Friendship Trays. The store's southwest Mecklenburg area near the Buster Boyd Bridge has seen immense residential growth in the last few years. And Friendship Trays opened a delivery route in the area earlier this year. Thanks, Firestone, for support of Charlotte-Mecklenburg's meals-on-tires program.
