● Meals on wheels in Charlotte-Mecklenburg ●
March 8, 2010
The Charlotte Observer on Sunday profiled Chris Folk, the longtime
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools administrator who played a central role in
leadership of the public school system for decades. The article quoted his
son remarking on his father's loyalty. Friendship Trays can vouch for that,
AND for his reliability. Since the elder Folk's retirement 18 years ago, he
has volunteered to drive a route whenever there was a fifth Tuesday in a
month. (There are five fifth Tuesdays this year.) Some volunteers would
forget such occasional commitments, says Executive Director Lucy Bush
Carter. Not Folk. "He has never missed, and when he couldn't do a route he'd
find a substitute," Carter said. Our thanks to Chris Folk, and to all the
other volunteers who help Friendship Trays serve the nutritional needs of
homebound and ailing community residents. To read the Observer article at
