The teaching chef

Community Culinary School Executive Director Ron Ahlert was in the
Distribution Street kitchen Thursday with second-graders from Charlotte Country Day
School, teaching kitchen safety and awareness of such tools of the
trade as the wisk in his right hand.

And
after
the visit...
Oct. 1, 2009
We often receive thank-you cards from children who have visited. This card came
signed (photo at right) by all the children from a Country Day School class.
Along with the thank-you card were photocopies of some of their reports on the
field trip. Here are two, retyped as faithfully as we can:
"Yesterday we went to a place called Friendship Trays where they make meals and
drive them to people that can't cook for themselfs. We got to make rice krispie
treats and eat them, we got to wear hair nets and aprons, and we also go to go
in a walk-in freezer that was -10°! Wow that's a once in a lifetime thing! It
was AWSOME!!!!
