Members of Caldwell Memorial Presbyterian Church helped found Friendship Trays in 1976. Volunteers began their delivery routes from Caldwell's basement in the Elizabeth neighborhood near downtown. This year, the congregation planted a garden on its church grounds. And today, some of the fruits of their labor were brought into the Friendship Trays kitchen. The peppers, tomatoes and herbs will be used in upcoming Friendship Trays cooking. The card from the church, right, reads, "May God bless this harvest and make it nourishing to those in need."
