Valentine's was the theme, but Friendship Trays was the cause as dozens
of people gathered in South End for Sweets & Treats, a fund-raiser for
the Charlotte-Mecklenburg meals-on-wheels program.
Invitations urged donors to "join us for an evening of baking, tasting and craftmaking." A donation of $25 was suggested. Proceeds will help finance operations at an agency that is neither well-endowed nor a United Way or government agency.
At Friendship Trays' South End offices, dozens of people spent the afternoon transforming the industrial kitchen, foyer and classroom into a festive party environment.
