Charlotte Roller Girls is a skater-owned and operated organization that plays and promotes women's flat-track roller derby. For their 2008 season, team members chose Friendship Trays as a nonprofit partner. Skaters have driven delivery routes for Friendship Trays, and the team is developing ways to financially support Friendship Trays' work. At the Nov. 15 bout, the team announced it would donate $2 from each shirt sale to Friendship Trays, and the entire proceeds from $3 Shout Outs -- spectator-written announcements made over the arena PA system during the bout. Friendship Trays volunteers have staffed an information table at bouts throughout the year.

This possibly unusual collaboration has deeper roots than the obvious link between skaters-on-wheels and meals-on-wheels: A Charlotte Roller Girls team member knew the good work performed by a meals-on-wheels program in her home state. Friendship Trays is grateful for the support shown by these young women of this community.
