It was hot enough for Fish to Fry

Donna Deloris Alexander Thompson Davis, one of the best fish fryers in town, donned Santa Claus deely-boppers. Friendship Trays Kitchen Manager Sibyl Durant wore reindeer antlers. Together they led Community Culinary School of Charlotte students through another South End Fish Fry, a fund-raiser for Friendship Trays.

The 2008 version was held curbside on Distribution Street. A bounteous supply of ice and the deely-boppers helped cool the mood amid the 96-degree heat, 2 degrees short of Charlotte's June 6 record.
