Bank of America team serves up food for their infirm neighbors

Thursday's main menu included beans with a side order or tomatoes and okra. And a team from Bank of America was in the Friendship Trays kitchen serving with gusto.

Above, members of the team take a break at mid-morning. Every volunteer crew that works the roughly two-hour shift gets a break at midpoint. The break is good for stressed wrists and such.

But it also marks the point at which the kitchen staff shifts equipment and people from the early task of preparing a cold box of foods like salad and rolls and dessert, to the late-morning work of filling individual trays with the day's entree and sides.

Volunteers from worksites and community groups are needed during the upcoming holiday season to prepare and deliver more than 700 meals. For information about available dates, the size of the group and the kind of volunteer work to be done, contact Volunteer Coordinator Lani Lawrence by e-mail or by calling the main Friendship Trays office at 704-333-9229.
