Over time, the staff and neighbors at Urban Ministries have turned nearly every square inch of tillable land at Urban Ministries into a plot of some kind.
Urban Ministries is located on the site of the 1896 Seaboard Airline railway station in the 900 block of North College Street. The faith-based nonprofit that runs the site serves lunch to homeless neighbors and provides other services. The old station building is used for art and other classes Neighbors help tend the garden.
Our guide was Community Garden Program staffer Don Boekelheide. Read his blog and visit the Urban Ministries website.
