A weekday afternoon camp for children ages 6-13, teaching
gardening and culinary skills at Friendship Trays Kitchen and Friendship Garden in South End Charlotte.

Cost: $125 per child;$100 for each additional sibling. Cost includes camp session, chef hat and apron, garden and kitchen supplies.

 

At Garden to Friendship Table Camp, campers will have the opportunity to interact with local chefs, farmers and garden experts. Each camper will learn about planting skills, composting, kitchen safety, menu planning and food presentation.



Day 1: Meet in Friendship Garden, tour the industrial kitchen at Friendship Trays, eat a healthy snack, personalize chef hats and aprons, learn where food comes from, and experience an introduction to composting.



Day 2: Planting Day in the garden, menu planning and food prep in Friendship Trays kitchen with local chef. Cooking and baking with a hands-on demo from the owner of The Blushing Bakeshop, and preparing healthy snack.



Day 3: Harvesting in the garden, Garden Art project, introduction to local food production and farming by representative from Grateful Growers Farms, preparing healthy snack.



Day 4: Cooking and preparing for afternoon Garden Party where invited guests experience what the campers have learned, prepared, planted and harvested. Campers entertain the guests, serve items from the Grateful Growers Farm and Harvest Moon Cart, and receive Localvore and Junior Chef certificates.

registration information, and return it to Friendship Trays at 2401-A Distribution St., Charlotte, NC 28203 with your payment. Payment may be by check or major credit card. In the event that a child is unable to attend, all but a $25 administration fee is refundable until June 21. No refunds will be made after June 21.
